On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 27th Scandinavian Hand Society Congress it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 27th Congress, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia on August 21 - 24, 2019. It will be a combined meeting of Scandinavian and Singapore Hand Surgery societies.
The programme of the Congress should help practitioners find answers to the questions they are facing in their daily work. The programme is focusing on updates on fractures and injuries around wrist and also gives new insights to other common hand surgical conditions. 2019 will be the first time that the congress is held in the Baltics.
The conference takes place in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Estonia is a country of contrasts. A large proportion of our nation’s land is designated as natural protection area. At the same time, Estonia is on the vanguard of technological development.
Tallinn is also the best reserved medieval capital in the Northern Europe. It is located in the north-eastern part of the Baltic Sea region.
Organisers of the conference are determined to promote a stimulating atmosphere of the meeting.
Please join us for a high level scientific and cultural experience in Tallinn, Estonia.
See you in Tallinn!
Kristo Kask MD, PhD
Chairman of the Organising Committee
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Hand Therapy Committee of the 27th Scandinavian Hand Society Congress I am honored to invite You on 21.- 24. August 2019 to Tallinn, Estonia.
Providing hand therapy is relatively new in Estonia, however latest knowledge and contemporary treatment options are already available for some of our patients. There is a need for expanding collaboration and knowledge both nationally and internationally.
I am certain that in the future we will face more and more patients who have undergone hand surgery on one side of the Baltic Sea and seek for therapy on the other, as working and having family across the sea is quite common nowadays.
We hope that this conference in Estonia provides a linking bridge between the Nordic and Baltic countries, enhancing improvement of collaboration and spreading the know-how.
The ultimate goal for all of us is that our patients have well-functioning hands, ready to be used in any activity they desire. It is well known that pain can interfere hand function more than functional limitation. Thus, it is important to be aware of current concept of pain, it`s types and treatment options. Wrist joint is the base of the hand and it`s skilled function. Treatment of stiff or unstable wrist can be a challenge for both the patient and the therapist. Therefore the
focus of hand therapy sessions will be on pain and wrist joint.
I reach out my welcoming hands to invite you to participate in the 27th Scandinavian Hand Society Congress and to enjoy tender summer evenings in Tallinn`s fairytale old town. New colleagues from home and abroad, all enjoying and appreciating the importance of hands will be there along with intresting sessions and fulfilling discussions. Hereafter we can reach in collaboration and enhanced knowledge our helping hands to our patients.
Looking forward to seeing You!
